NBEMS Launches Program to Check Infant and Child Car Seats For Immediate Release: National statistics indicate that 70% of infant and child car seats are not properly used or installed. That is an appalling statistic! Furthermore, many parents are not aware of new laws in Connecticut that require booster seats for all children less than 60 pounds. Parents who want to learn how to safely transport their children can drive to NBEMS any Monday (except holidays), turn in to the parking lot and pull up to the Child Safety Inspection Center. NBEMS certified inspectors will explain how your restraint system works and check to see that your child seat is properly installed. There is no charge for this inspection. A recent television story highlighted the fact that there is a shortage of people certified to inspect theses car seats. We are fortunate in New Britain to have NBEMS trained inspectors ready to check infant and child car safety seats.
